Rope Rescue I

The purpose of this course is to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills to care and maintain equipment used by the agency in rope rescue, explain the importance of personal safety and standard operating procedures relating to a rope rescue, work as a team member during a rope rescue operation and explain the various systems used in rope rescue.

 

Course Content:

The following topics will be addressed:

  • safety and signals
  • rope and tape (software)
  • knots and rescue
  • equipment (hardware)
  • belaying
  • abseiling and lowering techniques
  • anchors
  • rope rescue systems for raising and lowering

Course Length:

2 days

Entry Requirements:

Pre-course workbooks to be completed and competence in tying basic rescue knots (all information provided prior to commencement of the course).
